Everything we ate and spent hosting on a budget for the week! 💵🍴
Hosting friends and family on a budget can be challenging - you want fun and exciting meals for friends, but that can quickly add up. So this is a look at what we ate in a day, each day for a week of budget friendly family meals while hosting, and our budget friendly meal plan for the week This week we also did a lot of hosting with a family birthday (which means cake!), family gatherings, and other family visiting from abroad! We spent a little more than our usual £25 per person weekly budget but we needed to keep within in our monthly spending still. So we aimed for fun and celebratory but still budget friendly meals, and balanced them out when we weren't hosting and the week’s after.
Through the video there are lots if real life tips for how we stick to a lower than average budget, manage kid preferences, and still celebrate and have fun with friends!

🍳 QUICHE RECIPE:
I double the original recipe to feed 5-7 people for one meal with a light side like salad. (Original Recipe: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/c...)
Budget Recipe Adjustments:
250g plain or wholewheat little for dusting
100g cold butter, diced
4 tbsp milk, plus a splash (I have to double this for wholewheat)
For the filling
300ml milk/double cream/yogurt (or a combo with what you have)
2 medium eggs
1 tbsp chopped fresh tarragon (or omit)
100g cheddar, grated (or halve for budget)
180g cooked spinach, liquid squeezed out and lightly chopped (Or broad bean tops, chard, any sautéed greens.
60g cooked broad beans or chick peas
