This activity focused on the Burning Process, or combustion, and its essential requirements.
Sir. Adnan Badar, begun by explaining that three elements are necessary for combustion: fuel, heat, and oxygen.
The teacher also differentiated between complete and incomplete combustion, noting that the presence of sufficient oxygen results in a complete process, while less oxygen led to an incomplete.
To visually observe the critical role of oxygen, the students performed a key activity.
In the experiment, students covered a lit candle with a glass jar, which caused the flame to extinguish and water to rise inside the jar. The students correctly identified that the candle went out because the oxygen was consumed, which was a necessary element for burning . The water rose because the oxygen consumption created a reduced internal pressure inside the jar.
The session concluded after the students understood that the burning process absolutely required oxygen gas and they subsequently formed two groups to perform the activity to well understand.
