Paris Maine. This mine operated at the turn of the century by Lewis Brown of New York who owned the property and lived in Paris during the summer. After surveying the mineral content, he constructed a large mill and conducted some preliminary mining to determine if mineral content was worth further investment but it only resulted in about 10% which wasn't enough. Shortly after Mr. Brown passed, the mill structure was removed to replace a mill in town that burned down. Graphite, Molybendite (used in making steel), and garnet were the main minerals at the site. I found a lot of mica all over the location and there is a mica quarry nearby. The Crocker Hill Hiking Trail and the local snowmobile club use the site.
