CPI Trappen uses an innovative, self-designed work process to nest stair parts without the need for a specialized nesting machine. CPI uses a standard 5 axis CNC machine and the Compass Software Plate Optimization 2.0 module. The manufacturer saves 20% in production time and about 20% in material. They expect to double the production next year from six to twelve stairs per week.

CPI first optimizes different stair parts on a plate, using the Compass Software Plate Optimization 2.0 module. The software module guarantees the most optimal calculation of parts on the plate with minimal material waste.

Once the components are optimized on the plate, CPI begins its unique machining process. The machine table is loaded with a multi-use disposable plate. This plate is fastened on the machine with vacuum cups. The operator then uses a forklift to load the machine with the actual solid wood board. The plate is adjusted on the machine by using a laser to show the contours. The machine operator then fastens the solid wood plate to the disposable plate with regular screws so that it does not move during production. After starting the Compass Software CNC program, the machine nests the parts without manual intervention.

While the machine is running, the operator has time to remove parts from the previously finished plate and label them. The operator also has time to manually finish parts, if necessary.

CPI optimiert zunächst verschiedene Treppenteile auf einer Platte mit dem Compass Software Modul Plattenoptimierung 2.0. Das Softwaremodul garantiert die optimale Berechnung der Teile auf der Platte bei minimalem Materialverschnitt.

Sobald die Teile auf der Platte optimiert sind, beginnt CPI mit dem einzigartigen Bearbeitungsprozess. Der Maschinentisch wird mit einer wiederverwendbaren Verlustplatte bestückt. Diese Platte wird mit Vakuumsaugern auf der Maschine festgesaugt. Der Bediener belädt dann die Maschine mittels eines Gabelstaplers mit der eigentlichen Massivholzplatte. Die Platte wird auf der Maschine mithilfe eines Lasers anhand der Konturen ausgerichtet. Anschließend befestigt der Maschinenbediener die Massivholzplatte mit normalen Schrauben an der Verlustplatte, damit sie sich während der Produktion nicht bewegt. Nach dem Start des Compass Software CNC-Programms nestet die Maschine die Teile ohne manuellen Eingriff.

Während die Maschine läuft, hat der Bediener Zeit, Teile von der zuvor fertiggestellten Platte zu entnehmen und zu beschriften. Der Bediener hat auch Zeit, die Teile, bei Bedarf, manuell nachzubearbeiten.
