Epic Cycling Climb in the French Alps: Cormet de Roselend

Join us for an epic cycling climb in the French Alps - the Cormet de Roselend. This classic Tour de France route is a regular in both directions, and we'll be tackling it from the south side, starting in Bourg St Maurice. We'll also be featuring the climb from the north side, starting in Beaufort, which boasts stunning views of the lac de Roselend. This climb is featured on both the Tour du Mont Blanc Velo and the Route des Grandes Alpes cycling tour from Geneva to Nice (or vice versa). The Cormet de Roselend is a stunning climb in both directions and the ascent from both the South side and the North side are definitely Must-Do Climbs in the Mont-Blanc region for any cyclist that likes climbing mountains of the Tour de France and the French Alps. This short video will give you some inspiration and motivation to cycle this famous epic climb in the French Alps, and conquer the Tour de France climb of the Cormet de Roselend and provide you with some vital local knowledge so you can ride the climb with no nasty surprises.

The Cormet de Roselend has featured in the Tour de France 13 times since 1979 and saw the famous crash in the 1996 Tour de France by Johan Bruyneel. The summit is 1968M and whilst its an Hors Category climb, its a steady climb over 20KM climbing 1100M from Bourg St Maurice. An average gradient of 6%, thats only half the story as there are some sections where you descend slightly.
