Diani Beach is Located on the Indian Ocean coast of Kenya, Diani Beach lies approximately 30 kilometers (19 miles) south of Mombasa in Kwale County. It stretches for about 17 kilometers (11 miles) from the Kongo River in the north to Galu Beach in the south. Diani is a well-known tourism resort area in Kenya. The local population includes the Digo people, part of the Mijikenda ethnic group. Over time, Kenyans from various backgrounds have settled in Diani due to its thriving tourism industry. With a population exceeding 100,000, the Diani/Ukunda urban area is one of the largest along the Kenyan coast and is part of the broader Mombasa metropolitan region. Notably, Diani Beach boasts a shallow shoreline with underwater sandbars, allowing for clear views of the sandy bottom. Inland, lush vegetation—including palm trees—contrasts with the dry acacia trees found in the mountainous Kenyan Highlands. The Mwachema River flows into the sea at Diani Beach.

At the northern tip of Diani Beach stands the 16th-century Kongo Mosque, a historic Swahili structure. Until recently, Diani Beach was accessible only by road via the Likoni Ferry from Mombasa. However, the completion of the Dongo Kundu Bypass Highway (also known as the Mombasa Southern Bypass) is expected to further enhance local tourism .
