Barretts Esophagus, Dysplasia-Mayo Clinic

Barretts esophagus is a condition in which damaged cells in the esophagus become more like cells found in the intestine, usually as a result of GERD or acid reflux, in a process called metaplasia. Over time, those cells might become more abnormal. Dysplasia is a word that describes cells with a higher risk of developing into cancer.
