Super shade tree machining of 1 ton rear axle ring gear for Ballistic Fabrication shave kit install. To install this shave kit, one must "machine" their ring gear down to 10" +- 0.010". You can pay to have this done, but I'm broke and a DIY kinda guy, so I attempt to do this myself with a flap disk in my angle grinder. I'm pleased with the results, and I have confidence my job will yield the same results as ring gear shaved on a machine.
The acceptable range from Ballistic is: 9.990" - 10.010"
My machine job measurements are: 10.001" - 10.024" (.007" over in radius)
