A cantata fragment of only six bars (BWV Anh. 2) is all that remains of a slow movement in B-flat major for violin solo, strings and continuo. In all likelihood, it originally formed the central movement of a Violin Concerto in G minor, the outer movements of which survive transcribed by Bach for harpsichord and strings (BWV 1056). Pieter Dirksen completed the six-bar fragment into a fully developed slow movement.
Combattimento: Cynthia Freivogel (solo violin), Quirine van Hoek & Lena ter Schegget (violin 1-2), Marjolein Dispa (viola), Diederik van Dijk (violoncello), Erik Olsman (double bass), Pieter Dirksen (harpsichord).
The reconstruction of this violin concerto appeared on the CD: Bach Restored - Four Concertos and a Partita. Etcetera KTC 1806.
