9 pawls, 108 points of contact, and it will engage within 3.33 degrees of rotation.
Typical freewheels engage around 10 degrees, which is a longer sweep of the pedal before power is transferred to the rear wheel. However, some prefer the longer sweep when jumping or landing backwards because the extra time gives riders a chance to stick the landing before spinning the pedals backwards.

It’s really all about rider preference, and I chose to add Hornets to all my big BMX wheelie bikes because they’re consistent, don’t slip or skip, and I love the clicking sound at low speed. I hardly use a bell to alert pedestrians I’m approaching because of how loud these freewheels are.
