Princess Leonor Graduates from UWC Atlantic College in Wales | Infanta Sofia’s special visit

Princess Leonor, the 17-year-old heir to the Spanish throne, completed her £67,000 two-year course at UWC Atlantic College in Wales. This prestigious boarding school has a long history of attracting overseas royals and currently hosts around 4,500 students from 155 countries.
Both King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia were present at the ceremony to celebrate their daughter's achievement. Princess Sofia, Leonor's younger sister, also joined them for this special occasion. It's worth mentioning that the royal couple personally paid for Princess Leonor's tuition fees, and she secured her place at the college through the United World Colleges' (UWC) Spanish committee.
The graduation ceremony, known as the "Leavers celebration," marked the end of Princess Leonor's two-year stay in Wales. During the event, the college's tutor commended the princess for her passion for learning, understanding others, and exploring diverse perspectives. The tutor also highlighted Princess Leonor's love for meaningful conversations and her sense of humor, which greatly enriched her UWC experience.
UWC Atlantic College, located near Llantwit Major in Vale of Glamorgan, is a residential sixth form college catering to 15 to 19-year-olds. The college offers the International Baccalaureate curriculum, combined with co-curricular community service activities, to approximately 350 students. Its stunning campus includes the historic St Donat's Castle, dating back to the twelfth century, which serves as the college's emblem. Interestingly, this castle was once the former home of American newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst.
Over the years, Atlantic College has had the privilege of hosting distinguished guests, including the late Queen Elizabeth II, the former Prince of Wales, and even the Emperor of Japan.
