The Memory Palace learning system is over 2500 years old! Its premise is the combination of visual and spatial memory.
The Greek poet, Simonides, was at a banquet hall, but when he went outside, the banquet hall collapsed, crushing every attendee. He realized he could recall each of them just by their former place at the banquet.
