What's my diagnosis? - Answering Subscribers Question today I will show you the process an Acupuncturist / Chinese herbalist goes through to work out a TCM or Chinese medicine diagnosis. This subscriber asks, "Is it Liver and Spleen?" - he was right but here I give some more details about the various symptoms and how they relate to the Chinese medicine framework.

Here's the question:
"I’m so confused and unable to figure out my diagnosis. Could you please help me out?
My symptoms: tinnitus, floaters in the eyes, dry eyes in the morning and pricking pain on blinking, swollen and scalloped tongue, tongue coating - thin, white and wet, bitter taste in mouth in the morning, cannot digest grains and legumes (causes joint cracking if I eat them, especially white rice), grains and legumes cause bloating too, only physical anxiety manifestation like tightness of chest, shoulders and neck, brain fog (reduces in the morning on days I don’t eat dinner), low motivation to do anything. Life feels “blah”

I think it is liver and spleen related. Need your help. I’m so tired trying to fix it."

Spleen Qi Xu - Spleen energy deficiency is a very common TCM diagnosis, and Liver invading the spleen or wood invading earth is the diagnosis we talk about here. How can the Liver /GB energy "invade" the Spleen (earth element)?

Common symptoms of Spleen energy deficiency (Spleen Qi Xu) can be bloating, diarrhea, gas, tiredness, low appetite and food intolerance. Also some people find feeling anxiety and worried are common mental health symptoms that happen when the spleen /earth element is weak, it can't regulate the normal functions of thought.
