Work on DVT Locomotive No. 82113 at the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway is progressing well to convert it into a test bed for a new form of traction by Artemis Intelligent Power, The project, funded by the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) the DVT now fitted with a JCB engine, backed up by hydraulic accumulators that store energy under braking. This energy can then be reused for acceleration, with the idea being to prove whether the technology can be applied to rail use.
