The New Testament is taboo or forbidden in most Jewish communities. Yet the important question remains: IS THE NEW TESTAMENT FOR JEWISH PEOPLE? A table of Jewish and Gentile experts discuss: (a) the reality of the common Jewish prohibition to exploring the New Testament (Brit Hadasha), (b) why this Jewish prohibition exists and who is behind all the censorship, and (c) why Jewish truth-seekers should break through all the cultural walls to find the treasures awaiting then on the pages of the New Testament. The New Testament was, in fact, written by Jewish people, often to Jewish people, about the Jewish Messiah — and you didn't even know it.

00:00 Introduction: Many Jewish people report being strongly advised to avoid the New Testament.
00:13 Some Jewish people are told the New Testament is antisemitic and Christian fabrication.
00:25 Dan, a Jewish believer in Jesus, reports three axioms he was told growing up.
00:31 First two axioms: "You can't be Jewish and believe in Jesus," and "Jews don't believe in Jesus."
00:36 The third axiom: "The New Testament is antisemitic."
00:44 Dan reports being surprised by reading the New Testament. It was nothing like he was told.
00:52 People who read the New Testament know it is not antisemitic.
00:59 New Testament written by Jewish people, about Jewish people, about the Jewish Messiah.
01:15 Dan: The best way for a Jewish person to find out is to read the New Testament for yourself.
01:19 Why are some people telling Jewish people to stay away from the New Testament?
01:25 David, a Jewish believer in Jesus, says it is an issue of people wanting to control information.
02:03 Jewish David says: If Jesus is the Messiah, those who control the system lose control.
02:25 Wes: Rabbinic authority is key in this issue. Wes gives an anecdote about a rabbi.
03:00 If you only read the Hebrew Bible and not the Talmud, good chance you will believe in Jesus.
03:13 The Tanakh is seen by rabbinic authority as a dangerous book if it's not filtered through Talmud.
03:24 Shoshannah, a Jewish believer in Jesus, regularly read through the Old and New Testaments.
03:39 Shoshannah appreciated the New Testament cross referencing with the Old Testament.
03:56 Levi: The authors of the New Testament are Jewish and they draw from the Jewish prophets.
04:07 Levi: So much quoting of the Old Testament is happening throughout the New Testament.
04:14 Dan: Sadly, the New Testament HAS historically been used by antisemites to teach antisemitism.
04:50 David: New Testament not "new." Origins in the TaNaKh.
05:10 Jim: Weekly portion read in synagogues so often bypasses the important TaNaKh passages about Messiah.
05:23 Jim: Many Jewish people never hear those passages in the TaNaKh often cited in the N.T.
