This dance is a snippet from a varnam on Devi in Ragam - Abogi and set to Talam - Adi, composed by Dr Sanjay Shantharam, and choreographed by Periyachi Roshini for the SIFAS Festival of Music and Dance 2019- Kalavaibhavam.
This varnam says O ranjani, the destroyer of the evil demon mahishasura, the one who emerge from the word “om”, the expressive goddess who forms the half of shiva as ardhanarishwari. Shivapriye, you who ride on the mighty lion please bless us and remove all our sorrows, pride and conceit.
