The 1960s were an up-and-down decade for the division and hopes were high that heavyweight boxing would assume top form in 1970. The title was finally set to come together again since the exile of Muhammad Ali (who would continue flip-flopping between wanting to fight again and retire). Ali would ultimately return to the ring, finally able to resume his undefeated tale.
