Pang Wei 庞伟: The "Thinking Landscape" 思想的景观【中文】

The 3rd talk of our DLA Talk Series 2021 invited Pang Wei, the principal designer of Turenscape (Guangzhou). Mr. Pang will share his insights on how landscape could be the container of thoughts and ideas, as well as a platform for profound conversation for people and land.

About Pang Wei:
Pang Wei is the principal designer of Turenscape (Guangzhou), a guest research fellow at Peking University, an adjunct professor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and a guest professor at Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. He is also the “curator of spatial design group” for the 1st China Design Exhibition and the committee member of the 2017/2019 Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture, as well as the chief editor of Landscape Design magazine (2012-2019).

As the principal designer of the team, his project Zhongshan Shipyard Park wins the American Society of Landscape Architects Honor Award and the Chinese National Gold Medal of Fine Arts. The project Midea Headquarters Landscape Design was selected to participate in the 6th International Biennial of Landscape Architecture.

Description:
Nowadays, “landscape” has become the basic appearance of our land. Besides the aesthetic character, does it have the thinking capability? If so, to what extent? Designers are not only inspired by the economic and political power of the society; they could also demonstrate the landscape’s own thinking and interpretation. By this means, the landscape could be the container of thoughts and ideas, a platform for profound conversation for people and land.
