Backpacking adventure in Denali National Park in Alaska. is truly the last frontier. Myself and a buddy spent 8 days backpacking and exploring multiple different units. The park is 6 million acres and divided into 87 backcountry units. We got dropped off at unit 10, West Branch Toklat River, at the bridge. We stayed here for 1 night then crossed a ridge to access unit 11 for 1 night. We then entered unit 13 for two nights. We had to cross multiple river(s) braided river, in this unit. Then we crossed over the 2 mile wide Muldrow Glacier to get to unit 19. Muldrow is the largest glacier flowing north of Denali at 39 miles long. Crossing this glacier was absolutely crazy! We stayed in unit 19 for 1 day then crossed Muldrow again to get to unit 18. I ventured off to explore 18 after we crossed the glacier and it was breathtaking. We attempted to cross the next day into unit 12 but had horrible visibility making us turn around and head to unit 13 for a night before being picked up the next morning at the Eielson visiter center on the park road. We spent 8 days and 7 nights and covered a ton of miles exploring glaciers, mountains, passes, bears and caribou.
