Penang Hill, also known as Bukit Bendera, is one of the most beautiful and visited places in Penang, Malaysia. Rising to about 800 meters above sea level, this hill offers breathtaking panoramic views of George Town, the sea, and even the bridge that connects the island to the mainland. The air is cooler and fresher here, and the atmosphere feels like a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The easiest way to reach the top is by taking the funicular railway – a small train that winds through the jungle and gets you to the summit in just a few minutes. The ride itself is an experience, especially if it’s your first time on such a steep and scenic railway.
At the top, you’ll find a viewing deck where the entire island spreads out before you like a painting. You can stroll among colonial-era mansions, relax near small temples, and enjoy the sounds of nature all around. And if you keep walking along the pathways, you’ll reach one of the most unique attractions in Penang – The Habitat.
The Habitat is a nature park set in the heart of an ancient rainforest. It’s not just a tourist spot – it’s a place that preserves and showcases the island’s biodiversity. A walk through The Habitat is a real adventure. You’ll cross Langur Way, a canopy bridge that takes you from tree to tree, and then arrive at Curtis Crest – the highest viewing platform in Penang, offering a 360-degree view over the jungle and the sea. All around you are the sounds of birds, the scent of the forest, and the feeling of being completely immersed in nature.
