Motorcycle Oil Pressure Switch Test Plus Oil System Clean & Refill | Honda CB750 K | Part 7

In this Honda CB750 episode, I test and replace the oil pressure switch. I use a simple multimeter to check the switch, it shows that it is an open circuit so that the oil light will not come on.

I remove the oil tank and associated pipes so that I can clean them in a degreaser. I then dry them thoroughly so that there is no moisture left in them before refitting. I use new Viton O rings for the connections.

The oil filter housing has been cleaned and repainted and the filter is replaced with a new one. I then add 2 litres of oil. I also put around .25 of a litre into the rocker covers. This will flow down into the sump but will give some additional lubrication to the rockers etc when first starting.

The system should use 3.5 litres all together, but the tank capacity is 2. Once the bike is started the oil will need topping up to the right level.

I was intending to run the bike starter to get the oil pressure up to enough to switch off the oil light. But research indicates that this could take some time, and as it was a freezing cold day, I decided to wait until I actually start the engine. However, I have run the starter long enough to prime the system.
