Durston X-Mid 2 Solid in Hail, Heavy Rain & Rocky Ground - Real World Test in the Swiss Alps...Day 2

On this solo hike I am taking you to 4 beautiful Swiss alpine lakes in the southern part of Switzerland. I also took the opportunity to test my new Durston X-Mid 2 Solid tent. I therefore went to an area in Switzerland I had never been to. I wanted to test the tent in places where I would not know what type of situation and terrain I would encounter. There are too many reviews out there testing the tent in a backyard on perfectly flat terrain. For a trekking pole tent a good pitch is crucial. Therefore the terrain you encounter is a very important part of your experience....The weather forecast for this trip was pretty good, just predicting some rain on day 2. On day 2 the weather was fine in the morninig but later on in the day I was caught in a hail & thunder storm. Luckily I had my tent pitched up in time. However it took me a while to finding a spot which would allow me to put any stakes into the ground at all. Below 2 - 3cm of soil there were rocks which made it almost impossible to pitch the tent. This is one of the negative aspects of trekking pole tents. They are lighter but are more demanding with regard to terrain. I then had to wait out a hail & thunder storm which has put the Durston X-Mid 2 Solid to a real test....and it definitely passed!
