The Ministry of Energy has confirmed that it has not yet considered bringing a private company to enter into a joint venture with UEDCL, which took over the distribution of power from Umeme in April of this year. Speaking to NTV, Irene Bateebe, the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Energy, said that since the inception of the buyout of Umeme, the cabinet had provisionally included the option of bringing in a private company to enter into a joint venture with UEDCL when the need arises.
