Mark Laubach provides a brief history of the evolution of sharing open-source tools and programs to help promote and disseminate knowledge. He describes why he and Lex Kravitz launched the Open Behavior blog to provide a place for neuroscientists to promote and share these tools. They later approached eNeuro to create a section for researchers to report in full, and receive credit for, how these tools were made and used.
