This watercolor masterclass is based on a watercolor "Corfu: Lights and Shadows" by the late nineteenth century and early twentieth-century American painter, John Singer Sargent. This painting is a part of my series from the watercolor masterclass series #LearnfromMasters.

Watercolor is not the easiest medium to master, but it produces the greatest luminosity. There are many ways to paint in watercolor and I will show my way of approaching it. in my understanding, filling your painting with big and interesting shapes is the critical ingredient, apart from controlling water, tonal quality, and color mixing. The journey to learn these wonderful skills is filled with excitement, a bit of frustration, little moments of triumphs and several moments of zen-like contentment. Somewhat, similar to...life?
