Race 2 (Class A & B) of the 1986 Stannic Group N National Championship at Killarney - October 1986. This was the debut of the VW Golf GTi 16v, which went head to head with the BMW 325iS "Shadowlines", beginning a wild and action-packed era in South African motorsport. It was also the first time that a new generation of young drivers, including Mike Briggs, Chris Aberdein and Hilton Cowie, had the opportunity to establish their reputations against the established names including Sarel vd Merwe, Tony Viana and Graham Duxbury. And not forgetting Terry Moss, whose antics in his Golf 16v and the mayhem that often resulted, were a highlight of this exciting chapter of SA motor racing.
