Showa Memorial Park - Illuminated Gingko Trees in the Canal (November - Tokyo in 12 months

Showa Memorial Park is one of Tokyo’s well-known spots for viewing autumn foliage, and it offers visitors the chance to enjoy red and yellow leaves from an early point in the season. Among its viewing areas, the Gingko Tree Avenue, located near the Nishi-tachikawa Gate, and the Japanese Garden, situated deeper inside the park and known for its vivid maple leaves, have been illuminated during the “Autumn Night Walk” event since 2019. In 2025, the Canal - an area close to the Tachikawa Gate and noted for its striking ginkgo trees - was added to the illuminated sites. Since the Canal offers not only a pleasant walking route but also highly scenic views, the park’s popularity in autumn is expected to grow even further.
