Tarehe Sita Pre-activities in Lira City
The UPDF army under the fifth division command have agreed to work with the Lira City authorities on a monthly program to clean the city.
The UPDF were in their yearly pre-activities in Lira City, ahead of Tarehe Sita celebration that will be held tomorrow in Bugweri District.
Ambience
The UPDF fifth division commander today led the army in cleaning public facilities in Lira City. The Army was joined by police, city leaders, media and members of the public.

Lira main market was one of the filthiest places visited. All liters in and around the main market were removed by the army. The army also spent more time clearing blocked drainage lines and dealing with plastic waste poorly disposed by the vendors.
Katungi was then led by the visibly excited market authority to their market radio station to address the vendors.
This was part of the pre-activities the force engages ahead of the grand celebration.
The initiative culminated to an agreement where both the army and the city agreed to come together monthly and jointly clean the city.
Tarehe Sita, also known as the 6th of February, is commemorated yearly as the day National Resistance Army (NRA), led by Yoweri Museveni, launched an armed rebellion against the government of Milton Obote in 1981. This year’s celebration will be held tomorrow in Bugweri district, Busoga sub region.
