The Nærøyfjord or Nærøyfjorden is a fjord in Aurland Municipality in Vestland county in Norway. The narrow fjord is a branch of the large Sognefjord. The 18 kilometre long fjord is only 500 metres wide in some parts. The river Nærøydalselvi flows down the valley Nærøydalen into the fjord at the village of Gudvangen. The village of Bakka and the Bakka Church, which you can see in the film and on the cover photo of the film, are both located on the west shore of the fjord.

Since 2005, the Nærøyfjord has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has also been rated by the National Geographic Society as the world's number one natural heritage site along with the Geirangerfjord. Bakka is a tiny village located on the western shore of the Nærøyfjord, about 5 kilometres north of of Gudvangen. Bakka Church (Norwegian: Bakka kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway. It is the church for the Nærøy parish which is part of the Sogn prosti in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1859 using plans drawn up by architect Christian Henrik Grosch.

Der 18 Kilometer lange Fjord ist an einigen Stellen nur 500 Meter breit. Der Fluss Nærøydalselvi fließt das Tal Nærøydalen hinunter in den Fjord bei Gudvangen. Am Westufer des Fjords liegen das Dorf Bakka und die Bakka-Kirche, die Sie im Film und auf dem Titelbild des Films sehen können.

Seit 2005 gehört der Nærøyfjord zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe. Es wurde auch von der National Geographic Society zusammen mit dem Geirangerfjord als das weltweit führende Naturerbe eingestuft. Bakka ist ein kleines Dorf am Westufer des Nærøyfjords, etwa 5 Kilometer nördlich von Gudvangen. Bakka Church (norwegisch: Bakka kyrkje) ist eine Pfarrkirche der Norwegischen Kirche. Es ist die Kirche der Gemeinde Nærøy, die zur Sogn prosti in der Diözese Bjørgvin gehört. Die weiße Holzkirche wurde 1859 nach Plänen des Architekten Christian Henrik Grosch in langgezogener Kirchenform errichtet.
