Although there are thousands of songs I hear on the radio, this song stood out to me the most. How can a song convey such heartfelt meaning? Bring tears to our eyes? Touch the souls of people who can relate to its meaning?
I was inspired to play this song because of its enchanting, ethereal melody, and I also added my own harmonies to some sections. Garrapata State Park was a lovely destination, since the views were perfect, the nature remained untouched, and the rumbling waves sprayed a refreshing salty mist upon my face- as if calling me into a fairytale story.
I also wrote a poem titled The Love I Can't Retain, which pertains to the book that I'm currently reading and this song. Hence, here it is:
Rage burns through my veins,
Since all that I ever loved,
Is shrouded in sheer pain.
My fist clenches,
Yet weak, tremulous.
All I desire is simply vengeance.
But a spark ignites within my soul,
Reminding me of my past life and love,
It's now a deepening hole, hard to control.
Melodies of pure love trickle into my heart,
The life I once had,
I would be forced to depart.
I ask: If love should bring comfort,
Then why does it bring me pain?
Why am I being restrained,
From the one thing I can retain?
