How to Make an ID Wallet Out of Porous Crocodile Leather | Bespoke Leather Project

Good day friends! I hope you’re all keeping well. In today’s video, we’ll be making an ID wallet out of a beautiful porous crocodile leather in marine color. As you can see in the video, this leather has a lovely shine and has little to none defects on its surface.

For this project, I also used some Chevre goatskin for the lining and some Linen thread that matched the color of the leather to stitch the entire wallet. Working with alligator or crocodile leather can become quite challenging if the scales are too large or hard to cut. Since the scales are arranged diagonally on the leather, they make the hide become more flexible when working with them. So if you’re planning on working with this type of leather, make sure you use a well sharpened blade or x-acto knife.

Patience is key for these projects. These leathers are expensive and usually come in small sizes like the one I’m using. So making the most out of it is the ideal thing. In the end, this leather was enough to make the ID wallet, a bifold wallet, a pen sleeve, and two watch straps. The templates fit very tight between them but in the end it was worth it try different arrangements with them over the leather.
