AshCycle project: incineration ashes transformed into low-carbon and circular building materials
● AshCycle has two objectives: transforming this waste into construction minerals and reducing the carbon footprint of the construction sector by replacing part of the Portland cement – one of the materials with high CO₂ footprint.
● If adopted widely across Europe, this approach has the potential to cut annual CO₂ emissions by up to 20 million tonnes per year,
● Pilots have already been deployed in Europe, notably in Belgium on the campus of Ghent University.
