Donald Trump announces 26% reciprocal tariffs on India | BBC News India

US President Donald Trump has imposed a 26% tariff on India as part of the sweeping “Liberation Day” tariffs he announced on 2 April. Trump, in his speech, called the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “great friend” but said that Delhi is not “treating us right”. Tariffs are a tax on goods as they enter the country, proportional to the value of the import. The charge is paid by the domestic company that imports the goods and not the foreign company that exports them.
