The concept around conservation of linear momentum and angular momentum conservation is very important from solving some of the complex problems in physics for IIT JEE or NEET or Olympiads. Other very important concept where students face difficulty is dealing with coefficient of restitution when an object or rigid body collides with other object.
The problem is as follows.
A disk of mass M and radius R is hinged to wall from its edge and can swing freely from the hinge. A ball of mass m is moving horizontally with velocity u and hits the disk at a point which makes angle θ from the vertical line. After hitting, the ball moves directly downwards vertically. If the coefficient of restitution is e then what is the velocity of ball after the collision and angular velocity of the disk.
For θ = π/3, M = 3m, and e = 0.5, select the right option for angular velocity of the disk.
