The darkness of the night amplified their terror, making every second feel like an eternity. In the aftermath, the inhabitants of Fossa learned the full extent of the disaster—a major earthquake had struck the heart of central Italy, forever altering their lives and leaving an indelible mark on their town. In the days following the earthquake, the true devastation became clear. Fossa, like many other towns in the region, was left in ruins. Homes were destroyed, historical buildings were reduced to rubble, and the community was left to grapple with the immense loss.
