Known as Calvario, it used to be part of the Sierra Madre mountain range that was later cut off to make way for a road. Upper part of the town that was used as a guardhouse and in religious activities during the Spanish era. It became the headquarters of American soldiers and the Philippine Constabulary during the American era, and the civilian emergency administration during the Japanese era. The monument to Jose Rizal was erected, December 1925.
