Team Bacon is back to Lake Tahoe once again for training. We will swim in the Lake, bike and run along the lake. Lake Tahoe is a 4-hour drive from the SF Bay Area, it’s a beautiful place to bike and swim in the freshest cool water.
Today we start biking from Kings Beach, (pic) going around Lake Tahoe clockwise of 72 miles with a total elevation of 4,300 ft.
After having breakfast and a slow start of getting the bikes ready, we finally started rolling out at 7AM, it’s mid August, and the morning is not cold at all, the air feels refreshing and the smell of the clean air is simply satisfying. I just love the smell and the sensation of the clean & fresh air.
At 7:30AM, ss we are approaching to the very popular Sands Harbor beach, there’s a very long line of cars lining up on HWY 28 south bound trying to get into the Sands Harbor beach park, which opens at 7AM. You can’t stop your car on the HWY while waiting for the park to be open at exactly 7:00AM, you can either get there very early say 6:00AM and stop the car on the north bound and waiting for the gate to be open. However, there’s only like 30 car spaces available.
ll along the hwy, there’s very little shoulder room and most sections are lack of bike lanes for biking. We will absolutely must bike in single-line profile and forget about chatting side by side along the way.
Lake Tahoe is becoming more popular to tourists than ever before. There are simply many cars on the road even in the early morning hours after 8 o’clock. There’s something magical about this place, everyone wants to come here for vacation…
