Answers to the Quick Quiz:
1. Add 2,4-DNP. If a carbonyl compound is present, an orange precipitate should form.
2. Add Tollens' reagent and warm. Propanal should form a silver mirror precipitate.
3. Recrystallise the precipitate and test to find the melting point. Compare values to data book values to find the specific compound.
4. Propanal + [O] = Propanoic acid.
CH3CH2CHO + [O] = CH3CH2COOH
