MCAD at the 2012 Minnesota State Fair

Throughout the course of the 2012 Minnesota State Fair, MCAD students and alumni worked on two 6’ x 8’ foot paintings. Through a collaborative process of critique and discussion, the two compositions were formed using the concept of water.
At first, the paintings developed as a representational exploration of water (left panel) and an abstraction based upon cartography (right panel). Later, the paintings took on more abstract characteristics as the collaboration expanded to include area high school students and fairgoers.
