Veenhoven Typhoon model engines, made in the Netherlands, Amsterdam

A warm welcome my dear friends!

I am sorry that I release so few videos, but I simply don't have the time to edit them. But from time to time..and special in these hard times, I feel, I need to make one, to cheer you up a bit! One more will be made soon..but that is a secret so far.

Amsterdam is very near by from my home..about 20 minutes with the car or train ,and I live in a small town named Zaandijk,what is part of Zaanstad.. We have a great open-air museum with windmills and lovely old wooden houses and its actually the tourist attraction No 1 in the Netherlands. So if you come one day to Holland, it is sure worth seen it...check out on the web "Zaanse Schans" you will be amazed.... and my "engine Museum" will be you second stop! ;-) Sure worth coming to Holland now!

Mr.Veenhoven made a lot of nice engines and there are highly collectible. When the came on the market, the modeling press gives them very good reviews. If I remember well, the 2.47 PB engine was in the top 5 of the 2.5 class in around 1953. Indeed high praise.. and they do sure run very well!

Mr.Veenhoven build them in the basement of a (Grachten pand ) "channel house" at the Keizersgracht 372.
The story goes, that he test run the new engines at the rooftop, at the back yard!! What wonderful times it must to be!!

Here a list of the types he has built these years. Again a BIG thanks to my dear friend and engine expert Tom ten Brink, who makes this list possible. He works also on a book, which I hope soon will be ready. A lot small differences and Typhoon engines,I never ever seen in my life will be listed!

Diecast: 4,7 engines ( 4.82 cc ?)

1958 7cc Typhoon twin diesel diecast (30 made +/-)

from the 2,5 series engines aprox 1200 +/- made in total
5cc 1953 glow diecast engine should have the name on the carter in red paint see picture.The sand cast are plain.


It is not 100% sure,if the 5cc diesel have the exact same volume as the glow..should be possible, it is a 4.7 ccm engine, no info at Scepterflight on the 5 cc diesels and its exact size.

Also worth to read, is the FMV story about 3 guys in Holland, what want to get the best out of a team race diesel..a amazing story!!

I hope I cheer you up a bit with this video, as many of you stay at home..less or more.. so the internet is a great help.
