We visited Dartmoor for a hike and wild camp. After a night in the bunkhouse at the Plume of Feathers pub and a few ales we got up early to have a breakfast and coffee before setting off on the hike.
The weather was pretty bad to start but was hopeful it might clear enough during the hike so that we wouldn’t get too wet, however after a good solid 3-4 hours of torrential rain we decided to head back to the Two bridges hotel to have a cup of tea and dry off a little before deciding whether to carry on the hike to our wild camp destination or to go back to the Plume of Feathers to dry completely, grab some more clothes and head off in the motor to camp and have the vehicle nearby in case the weather turned again
We decided this was the best option as we’d already hiked 10 miles with our bags weighing around 15-18kg
We found a nice spot hidden from any roads and people and set up camp for the night, having a visit from the horses with their foals and some sheep too! It was a pretty cold night so an early start we packed up, had some coffee and took a walk around the Fersworthy reservoir before heading back home
