As of Friday, October 10, contractors reopened a clear channel at the Pohoiki Boat Ramp for the first time since black sand blocked access after the 2018 Kīlauea eruption. But between October 16–19, 2025, ocean swells pushed fresh black sand, cobbles, and lava rocks back into the entrance channel, once again hindering progress. This video documents the latest conditions, including the ongoing battle against shifting sand and surf.
