The exterior of the replica Leasingthorne Colliery Welfare Hall and Community Centre within our 1950s Town construction site is visually complete and our Joinery team have now moved inside to fit the interior structure.
Towards the middle of the museum site, the foundations to Spain's Field Farm are now in place and our Masonry team are now onsite ready to start the stone work.
Nick Butterley, Remaking Beamish Project Co-ordinator takes us on a tour of the 1950s Town and Farm construction sites.
Thanks to money raised by National Lottery players, the project has been awarded £10.9m by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
