Four years after the Battle of Gallipoli, an Australian farmer named Joshua travels to Turkey to look for his three sons who never came back from the war. When he reaches Istanbul, he meets others who have also lost their loved ones — Ayshe, a hotel owner, and her son Orhan, who becomes friends with Joshua. He also meets Major Hasan, a Turkish officer who once fought against Joshua’s sons but may now be the only person who can help him find answers.
