Charles Villers Stanford's 'The Blue Bird', written for soprano solo and choir 1910, depicts a bird flying over the serene landscape of a lake. The text is taken from a poem by Mary Elizabeth Coleridge, describing the bird has having 'wings of palest blue'. Here, The Mancunium Consort perform this piece at the Chapel of St Augustine, Tonbridge.
