【インドとネパールの旅】#6 Namo Budda, Kavre, ヒマラヤ、祭り、修道院、NPOワールドワイドファミリー、カブレ地区女性プロジェクト、Worldwide Family, Nepal

ネパールのカブレ地区ナモブッダを訪問しました。カトマンズから40キロ離れた所で、ネパールの聖なる場所の1つです。徒歩10分の所にシャンパティがあり、そこは2009年に日本から農機具を寄付して女性たちが農業を始めました。

ミーナさんに最初に出会ったのは2000年秋、カトマンズ空港でポカラ行き飛行機が遅延して待っている時でした。ミーナさんはポカラの豪邸に招待してくれ、息子のシャムちゃんはまだ2歳でした。ミーナさんと私は年齢も近く、共に仕事を辞めた後で意気投合しました。ミーナさんは盲学校を案内し、ネパール女性が貧しく栄養失調なので、ストリートチルドレンや盲目の子供が多いと言っていました。日本に帰国してからメールで「路上に凍え死にそうな子供たちがいるので助けたい」とメールが来ました。私は脱サラ後にあちこち旅をしてたくさんのストリートチルドレンを見てきたので共感しました。日本の友人たちと少しずつ寄付を送りネットで報告を受け、僅かな円でも直接支援で大きく活かされることがわかりました。

2001年に日本でNPOワールドワイドファミリーを設立し、ネパールではミーナさんを中心にパワフルに活動してきました。ポカラでストリートチルドレンの生活・教育支援、盲学校の支援、ハンセン病老人の支援、訓練所を作って女性の自立支援、識字教育などの支援、カトマンズでも子供たちの生活・教育支援、女性の自立支援、2015年のネパール地震後はカブレ地区女性プロジェクトに力をいれ、大勢の女性たちや子供たちを支援してきました。女性が自立することで、子供たちを育てられストリートチルドレンがいなくなります。2022年にはシンドゥパルチョークに健康センターも作りました。常にネットで連絡し合い、ネパールと日本を行き来し、家族のような親しい関係を築いてきました。

活動をして24年目、子供たちが育ち、女性たちが自立して幸せになったのを再び確認できて嬉しかったです。理解して協力してくださった心温かな日本のファミリーの皆様や韓国の姉妹に心から感謝申し上げます。


We visited Namo Buddha, Kabre district, Nepal. It is 40 km from Kathmandu and is one of the holy places in Nepal. A 10-minute walk away is Syampati, where women started farming in 2009 with the farming equipment donated from Japan.

I first met Meena in the fall of 2000 while waiting at the Kathmandu airport for a delayed flight to Pokhara. Meena invited me to her mansion in Pokhara and her son, Shyam, was only 2 years old. Meena and I were close in age and hit it off after quitting our jobs. Meena-san showed me around the school for the blind and told me that there were many street children and blind children because Nepalese women were poor and malnourished. After returning to Japan, I received an e-mail from her saying that there were children who were freezing to death on the streets and she wanted to help them. I sympathized with her because I had traveled around and seen many street children after leaving my job. My friends and I in Japan sent donations little by little and received reports online, and we realized that even a small amount of yen can be greatly utilized through direct support.

In 2001, we established NPO World Wide Family in Japan and have supported powerful programs led by Dr. Meena in Nepal. In Pokhara, we have supported the livelihood and education of street children, a school for the blind, and elderly people suffering from leprosy, women's independence by building a training center, literacy education, etc. In Kathmandu, we have supported the livelihood and education of children, and women's independence, and after the Nepal earthquake in 2015, we focused on the Kavre District Women's Project, supporting many women and children. After the Nepal earthquake, we have focused on the Kavre District Women's Project and have supported many women and children. We have also built a health center in Sindhupalchok in 2022. We have been in constant contact via the internet, traveling back and forth between Nepal and Japan, and have built a close relationship like a family.

After 24 years of activities, I was happy to see again that the children had grown up and the women had become independent and happy. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the warm-hearted Japanese families and Korean sisters who understood and cooperated with us.
