In our troposphere, convection cells are formed through the imbalance of incoming radiation, concentration and movement of thermal energy through the lower atmosphere. The initial and principle convection cell over the tropics is the Hadley cell. The video begins with an illustrated Hadley cell and discusses the two adjacent cells occupying the mid-latitudes and polar regions on both the northern and southern hemispheres. This video leads into the pressure belts and wind generation video.
