This video is the part of the chapter Morphology of Flowering Plants (11th, NEET, CET, Competitive Exams, B.Sc, Agriculture).
This video explains the modifications carried out by stem to carry out some additional functions like storage of food, Perennation and vegetative propagation.
For doing so, the underground part of the stem modifies itself and now depending on its features, it is called as Rhizome, Tuber, Bulb and Corm.
Rhizomes are of 2 types : Vertical Rhizomes and Horizontal Rhizomes.
Horizontal Rhizomes are of 2 types : Monopodial Rhizomes and Sympodial Rhizomes.
This video systematically explains why Ginger and Turmeric are Stem or Rhizome and not root.
It also explains why Potato is a stem and not a root. Similarly Onion and Garlic are also Bulb and not the roots.
All the 4 modifications are explained with examples.
