"To make this song, I plucked out some samples from larger sampled instruments that came with my DAW, to imitate a lo-fi "MIDI" sound where they'd have to similarly pluck 1 or 2 samples from their instruments back in the day. I also interfaced with the builtin midi playback sounds in Windows directly from my DAW as well, and I paired that altogether with an 808 kit preset that I tweaked/cut up to sound less modern, and more plucky. I've never listened to the Animal Crossing music very much, nor have I played the games so I improvised a lot on what I knew. I would say this sound in the song is a little inspired from a mix of composers I like, such as Calum Bowen and Kazumi Totaka. I lost inspiration at one point, but I feel like there's a definite point halfway through the song where I am no longer trying to approximate the Animal Crossing style and am just writing the kind of music I normally write - which I think was correct to do considering my unique outsider view and that I'm here to show my own sound perspective as well.
