the video is a tribute to Visions of Atlantis. What was intended as a short reel has become a small film.
Before the start of the VoA Tour 2022 through Europe, the admins of the 1st Official Fanclub of Visions Of Atlantis, the admins: Julia & Melli, had the idea that the fans would record small videos. The videos should show the fans before (preparing for the concert) and during the concert. The two of them edited the collected recordings together after the tour and uploaded them in eight parts to the fan club youtube channel. (    / @voasailors   ).
My idea was that the preparations for the concert also included the disappointments caused by the cancellations and the postponement of the performances. So I drove to the Elbe beach with my son and we took various pictures that symbolize the postponement of the concert.
We also filmed some scenes with friends as we make our way to the event.
While the opening act was playing I talked to the singer Michele Guaitoli. He showed me a photo of himself running around his village as a little boy as a pirate. He had gotten the photo from his sister, who had just discovered it in an old album. Michele was proud to always have been a pirate.
This experience reminded me of a time when the urge for freedom and adventure made me go to sea. For a while I was even lucky enough to be able to work also as a sailor on a tall ship / cruise ship. I spent my holidays as a regular crue / helmsman on old traditional sailing ships. There was always a touch of pirate life over deck.
I also wanted to pay tribute to this time with the songs from VoA.
It quickly became clear to me that this is not easy to do by putting together short film scenes. I also didn't like the fact that the songs from VoA all get a lot too short with small clips. Finally, the two great support bands should also come into their own.
I downloaded a video editing program from the Internet and taught myself how to work with it. I looked for sailing pictures from my old photo albums and scanned them. I also added the pictures to the video from a pirate photo shoot with my children when they were younger.
And of course the photos and videos of the three bands in the LOGO.
Julia & Melli's idea for the Visions of Atlantis Sailer fan page has become a small film that keeps alive in me beautiful memories of a beautiful and exciting time thanks to the great music by VoA.
Once a pirate life, forever a pirate at heart.
